WOW, is it me, or does it feel like 2019 is blowing by quickly

I have been so busy, that I hadn’t stopped to say hello to all of you! Well, let me say this, I have been busy doing nothing really. What I really mean is, I have not been productive.

Yes, there has been so much on my calendar, but I have been doing so much of…. just doing…and I have not been checking items off my goal list for the year. Of course, I have been having fun but how much fun can you have while treading water?

I woke up this past Saturday morning, and I realized that I had not touched my business much this year and I almost cried. Immediately, I pushed my butt into gear and got to work.

Does anyone also feel this way? Oh, no? I am the only one huh? Well, I will own it and admit that I have been slacking, a little anyway. However, it felt good to get back at it. While I have not recovered a whole 75 days of production in the last two days, I have completed some immediate goals. One goal was to stop in and say hello to all of you!

My whole point here is, if you are an empty nester, don’t feel guilty for designing a lifestyle that looks totally different from the one you were used to as an active parent. “

Amidst all of the ‘stuff’ that I have been doing this year, I continued to focus on enjoying life as an empty nester. I will admit, it has not been too difficult because two of my three adult humans are at home. What I mean is, I haven’t had to worry as much about them ‘flying the coup’ because they are at home. They are doing well! They both attend college and work and they seem to be balancing both areas exceptionally well. I am truly proud of them. However, the transformation of my empty nesting lifestyle was a bit confusing to them.

So, let me give a quick ‘shout-out’ to my eldest adult human! He is doing exceptionally well too and I am so proud of him!

Now, let’s try to break down this lifestyle shock the others went through. You see, when you are a parent that enjoyed cooking and did it often, there seems to be a bit of resistance in the air when there is no more cooking. There was even a question asked at one time, ‘how can you be an empty nester when two of your children are back at home?’ And you know my answer, right? “Um, because empty nesting is a lifestyle not a state of mind, which means empty nesting is what I make it. And as a part of my new lifestyle, I do not have to cook”.

Ok, so yes there are times that I will cook. Most of those times, my daughter won’t eat because she is either not at home or the menu does not meet her vegan lifestyle. I will even eat some of what she cooks (which is so nice).

My whole point here is, if you are an empty nester, don’t feel guilty for designing a lifestyle that looks totally different from the one you were used to as an active parent. This journey is all about you (you-couples)! It is what you make it and the sky is just a pit stop!

Are you an empty nester? I would love to hear more about your journey! Share in the comments below.
